It is not uncommon for our school district to move staff to other places to ensure that all are growing and preparing for the future.
Sadly, we must announce that Meredith Plyler is moving to Forest Acres Elementary School for the next school year. Mrs. Plyler has been at Six Mile Elementary for seven years and has served the students and families of this community well. We will miss her tremendously!! I know you will want to express your gratitude for all she has done these last years.
Mr. Steve Gilstrap is being moved to Six Mile Elementary as the assistant principal next year. Mr. Gilstrap worked at Liberty Primary as a teacher, Liberty Primary and Liberty Elementary as an Attendance Interventionist, and McKissick Academy for two years as an assistant principal. Please help me welcome him to SME!

Families of students who will be 5 on or before September 1 are encouraged to register ASAP. We base staffing decisions for teachers and staff on registration numbers. Please reach out to us if you have any questions about registration.

The 2025 Parent School Climate Survey from the South Carolina Department of Education is an important opportunity for you to share your feedback about our school. Your voice matters, and we want to hear from you.
The survey was first shared with families on March 3. As a final reminder, the district has sent it out again today, Monday, April 7, and it should arrive in your email inbox around 6:00 p.m.
Each student has a their own individual survey link, and the survey can only be completed once per child. If you have more than one child, you may have received multiple emails. You're welcome to complete a survey for each student, especially if they attend different schools.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey by Thursday, April 11. It only takes about 10 minutes, and your feedback helps us continue to grow and improve.
If you have any questions or need help finding your survey link, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for being a valued part of the Six Mile Elementary family.
With appreciation,
Melissa Terry

During the week of March 24, information about Summer Camp at SME will be coming home. This camp will be sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club of America. We are waiting for information from them to send home. The camp will begin on June 9 and run through July 18.
All students who would like to attend will be able to.
This camp is not to be confused with Camp iRock or YMCA camp. This is provided at SME for working caregivers to have a place for students during the summer.
Look for more information after Spring Break!

Spring Pictures and Class Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, March 25.

Please begin checking to see if you have Six Mile Elementary library books at your house and return those. Thanks for your help!

Today, we celebrate the incredible men and women who ensure our students travel safely to and from school each day. It's SC Bus Driver Appreciation Day, and we want to say THANK YOU to our SDPC bus drivers and assistants!
To truly capture the impact of our drivers, we spent time riding along on routes and speaking with two of our dedicated drivers—experiencing firsthand the joy, care, and commitment they bring to their work.
