Secondary Transition Education & Employability Program (STEEP)
STEEP is a four year transition education and employability program that prepares special needs students for life and entry level employment in our community. This program includes:
Functional Adacademics: Academic classes including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies
Career Education: Students begin to explore various aspects of working and how to prepare themselves for the work force.
Career Training I: Provides students with classroom instruction and intensive on-site training at various businesses through job shadowing. A school district employee accompanies the students to various businesses in the community. The students are able to gain a better understanding of what it is like to work and gain valuable work eperience. These are non paid job experiences.
Career Training II: Provides instruction that prepares the student to take the Work Keys assessment (www.workreadysc.com). Students are given the opportunity to job shadow in various businesses in the community and participate in cooperative work employment placements.
