Pickens County Career & Technology Center’s student organization, HOSA, had a total of 8 students and 2 advisors travel to Nashville, TN for the annual, HOSA:  Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference this past June.

The conference was held in the Gaylord Opryland Hotel for a week where the students competed against other students from the United States, and four other countries.  One group of four students competed in Health Education, where they had previously written a children’s book about brushing and flossing teeth.  These students went to Chastain Road Elementary school and taught second grade students how to brush and floss correctly. Another student was recognized for completing the HOSA scrapbook and her recognition event was HOSA Reflections.  Another student campaigned to run for a national HOSA officer position.

The last two students attended a class, HOSA 201, where they learned leadership information, as well as general knowledge about being a local HOSA chapter officer, so they could come back to the school to share the information with the other local chapter officers.
