Secondary Transition Education & Employability Program (STEEP)

STEEP is a four year transition education and employability program that prepares students with special needs for life and entry level employment in our community. This program includes:

9th-12th Grades

Functional Academics: Academic classes including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies

10th-12th Grades

Career Education: Students begin to explore various aspects of working and how to prepare themselves for the work force.

11th Grade

Career Training I: Provides students with classroom instruction and intensive on-site training at various businesses through job shadowing. A school district employee accompanies the students to various businesses in the community. The students are able to gain a better understanding of what it is like to work and gain valuable work eperience. These are non paid job experiences.

12th Grade

Career Training II: Provides instruction that prepares the student to take the Work Keys assessment ( Students are given the opportunity to job shadow in various businesses in the community and participate in cooperative work employment placements.
